How we work
Rooted locally,
strengthened nationally
OCTA organises pharmacy services across three levels so that pharmacies spend less time on logistics and have more time for patients. What can be done locally stays local. What is better handled at regional or national level, we organise together.

Local
The chemist’s as the heart of the neighbourhood
With more than 60 community pharmacies, we look after patients across the Netherlands every day. Because we manage logistics centrally, our pharmacists have more time for what really matters: relevant, local care. Pharmacies operate in clusters, with at least one manager per cluster. Pharmacists have local autonomy — in terms of management — and can take part in certification schemes.
Regional
Logistics hubs that keep the healthcare sector moving
From our regional hubs, we coordinate logistics for several clusters and healthcare institutions in the region. The hubs are always located within an hour’s travel time of the pharmacies they serve. They streamline the local product range, facilitate remote telephone and written orders, and provide a ‘total fill’ service, so that every pharmacy can focus on what it does best.

Nationwide
A single strong network as the backbone
Our Shared Service Centre supports the entire OCTA network in the areas of IT, HR, finance and data. This means that no pharmacy needs to organise these matters itself. In addition, OCTA has its own scientific department, OCTA Science, which uses data to improve healthcare through clinical rules, reviews and KPI monitoring. The national level is the driving force behind every local pharmacy.
